Our Lily

She's 11-ish. We've had her since she was 3-ish and she's always been a less-than-active-dog and a little bit of an odd duck. But just this past year, it stuns me every time I see her. Her gray muzzle. Her slowness on walks. The rareness of her asking for a game of fetch.  She sleeps with her tongue sticking out. Her lips get caught on her teeth. She doesn't always hear someone knock at the front door.

She's getting older.

Some things remain the same...she has never liked getting her picture taken...she still does that weird scratching/making-a-nest-out-of-nothing-on-the-couch-thing...she eats everything except olives and grapes...she loves getting her tummy warmed by the sun on our hardwood floors.

She's my little black shadow and I'm thankful for her every single day.

When I first started reading this, I thought it was going to be a tribute to her because she was gone. :( I was happy to read she is still hanging out with you. <3 Animals are amazing creatures. One of those things from God that He didn't have to do, but did. And I'm so glad.

Hey Tonya! I thought about that when I typed the title...but it didn't sound as nice if I typed "Our Lily...not dead". :)

She's a lovely girl. It is sad to watch those we love age and ache when we are still spry. Aren't we lucky to have them in our lives though?

I am blessed with three cats, the youngest of which is cuddly and snuggly as a dog. The oldest is now 15 and getting thin and cranky with age. It is difficult to watch but she has always been and is still a blessing in my life.

hijack - You would not believe the "word" the security check just created for me. I think Rush Limbaugh had something to do with it. LOL /hijack
