family warmth

We have many beautiful and not so cold days here in Colorado...just not when I have shoots scheduled! Burr. It was cold and windy and cold again. But this family rocked it out with love and laughter and love again. :) Thanks so much for hanging in there with me as the sun set behind the mountains.

Brrr.

you would never know it, but it was FRICKIN FREEZIN at this shoot this morning. Burr. and oh my gosh, she rocked it out! So fun to walk around, find some great new photographic nuggets in random alleys, and chat away the coldness. I am continually amazed at how lucky I am that I get to do this for a living.

Best jacket ever!...totally want it! :)

Today:
*Was going to do the incline, but it started snowing...too dangerous for miss C.
*Rocked out some spinning on my indoor bike.
*Excited about getting a BodyBugg for Christmas.
*Proud of myself for not WAITING to get the bodybugg to workout. The time is NOW. I like feeling strong and I'm done with feeling PUFFY. nuf said.
*Working for a few hours, letting "Flipping Out" soothe me in the background.
*So thankful for my family, my little cozy lap dog, and yummy apples in the fridge.

And another new pendant...you aren't sick of seeing them are you? :)

thankful

I think back to my college days...when Chris and I were first married and we were struggling artists in LA...a LONG time ago...feels like lifetimes...and the biggest thing I remember was feeling alone. I was a painter. In culture shock from coming from Northern California (yes, it's that big of a difference). And I didn't have any artist friends. No one to bounce ideas off of. No one to tell you you are awesome and people just don't know yet. I thought that the loneliness and isolation was normal and good and that the struggle was part of an artist's life.
Bologne.
For me, that doesn't work. I'm not that self-motivating.
And then the internet happened. And blogs. And an amazing amount of people doing an amazing amount of art that they share freely and you can see it and experience it and get inspired by it and know that you are not alone out there doing your thing. I think my life would've been much different if I was going to college now. But maybe I wouldn't appreciate this lovely world that's opened up. I am so grateful.
Oh, and new pendants are up in my shop. :) I'm calling them my holiday sweater alternative.

Funkalicious

This is how I felt yesterday (maybe not as pink)...I wanted to go back to bed, hide my head, talk to noone. In a funk for sure. At one point in the day, my wonderful husband gave me $5 and told me to go read at starbucks with a latte. Usually that does a world of good, but I just couldn't shake it that yucky feeling where you just know you are not yourself.
I ended the day slipping on some ice in the Target parking lot. Yup, that's when I knew that it wasn't going to be a great day and that's okay.
Today, I woke up incredibly sore from landing hard on the ice, but other than that, back to feeling normal and like I'm not going to freak out at any moment. Nice. And I'm so thankful for that.

Oh, and I had my first giveaway for all my facebook fans...Jason Tesar is the winner. If you want to be included in future giveaways on facebook, become a fan. :)

Okay, time to get off the computer and LIVE. And get coffee. And get inspired by something.

Two words and my list for the day

1. In a city that calls a snow day when they see clouds, they did not cancel school today. Are we living in an alternate universe?! The main news story today is the black ice under all the snow. REally? Not even a 2 hour delay so we can shovel our drive way and buy a four wheel drive?

2. Two words: DEAD.MOUSE. The final straw was when the mouse came out at 9pm, looked at us like "what are we watching on tv tonight?", and started zooming around our basement like it was time to play. It continued to snack on the poison I set out. (I am starting to think that I bought the appetizer version of a trap instead of the poison version.) It ate it while we stood there looking at us. While our dog slept on the couch and did nothing. While we put a flashlight spotlight on the trap with the poison. And then, my husband's genius came into play...put peanut butter on the sticky trap. (Yes, I bought a million kinds of traps.) I went to bed, but I heard the fight between my husband and the mouse...some strong bangs from the basement...and I'm pretty sure my husband won...unless I had a very big mouse sleeping next to me last night. Dead Mouse...those are two beautiful words.

3. Meeting a fellow etsy seller today. Always fun.

4. Having coffee with a friend. Even better.

5. Putting wedding albums together. Proofing. Cleaning the entire house. And promoting world peace. All in a day's work. :)

(taken a few weeks ago...there's way more snow today!...couldn't get myself outside this morning to take pics from today's snow)

A few things this morning...

1. A layer of ice + 6 inches of snow = the Walters family not going to church...our little mini van would be fishtailing all the way down the hill. (one more reason for me getting my baby-poop-green jeep...just saying)

2. After putting out some different traps, we still have a mouse. It's not going for the sticky traps. And it ate a whole block of poison. This mouse is a freaky hulk like mouse now. I think it's out to get us. Our dog paces in front of my office closet for hours. That couldn't mean it's in there, right?

3. I slept in til almost 9am. Hubby brought me a peppermint mocha, and I watched E! news in bed. Heaven.

4. Today I MUST create stuff. I have more journals waiting to be made, pendants laying on my craft table waiting to be soldered. My office/studio is trembling with excitable creative energy and I'm having a hard time just sitting here typing this while there is so much wonderment to be had.

5. It's still snowing and I love it. I think there is a snowman in my future. :)

Okeedokee...off to create. :) Anyone else making stuff today? Leave a comment. REally. :)

Still needing more hours in my day

I read on someone's blog recently that they wished they lived to be very very old, because they have millions of things they still want to do. I love that and feel like that too. I have so much that I want to do, accomplish, see, experience...
I am going to make a list of things over the next few days. Seeing the bigger picture is good. I am one who gets lost in the details. I better go with the goals while I can see them!
Okay, enough yakking (yacking?)...a sneak peek from yesterday... :)

One more

because I can. :) Piggies are wonderful.

This week, I seem to be needing 5 more hours in every day.
And more sleep.
And super big gulps.
And my own little sweat shop for making pendants.
And 3 assistants for returning calls and emails.

It's not like this every week, but this week is BUSY. I have tomorrow to catch up on everything that has fallen through the cracks. And that feels good. If you have left messages or emails, I promise to get back to you. :)

November...please slow down.

Early birds

That's what my whole family is...for dinner at least. My son just TEXTED me that he was hungry and ready for dinner. Oh. My. Gosh. Seriously. You are all getting snot in your mac-n-cheese.
Did I take that too far?
But before I go, a sneakity peekity!!! :)
I love this first one more than I can say. Piggies are the bestest!

5 things and a confession

5 things I'm totally into at the moment:
1.Sun flare
2.texture, although I don't want to lean too heavy...very aware that this is a phase and I don't want to look back and say, geez, why does every image have a texture on top of it!
3.Burlap. I want to sew with it, cover my dining room table with runners of it, wrap presents with it. Yummy texture. Yummy color. Just plain yummy.
4.Pandora
5.Cleaning. I want to get my house in order before the holidays.

Confession: I write things down in my planner that I have ALREADY done...just so that I can get the satisfaction of checking them off. :)

There is nothing better...

...than doing a session with one of your best friends and her family. Serious goodness. Lots of walking. Lots of laughing. Lots of exploring. Thank you for how wonderful you all are!

Mouse update...bought some really terrible looking traps...some sticky-glue traps and some crawl-in-a-tunnel-and-eat-poison traps.

No dead mouse. I think this mouse is smarter than me.

Letting stuff go

And wishing I had re-painted my toe nails. :)
Sneak peek later this afternoon.
Oh and I started a cathy walters photography facebook fan page thingy. Super fun, right?! :)
Click here to join. I'm doing a giveaway as soon as I get to 75 fans.

Seriously

Apparently this mouse (singular!) thinks we are providing a buffet. It has licked 4 traps clean now.
It has skill.
And technique.
And dance moves.

I'm going hard core...today, I'm off to Lowes to get some kind of evil contraption that is dark and menancing...the kind of place that you go to and never come out of. Maybe it will think it is an exclusive night club.

Bring it on, little mouse.

(oh, and I did not take that picture yesterday...got it off of a google search...I just hate a post with no pictures...I didn't see the photographer's info, or I would've credited the person. And you know what? I hope that mouse is dead too.)
